FIVE YEARS IN THE MAKING: Indian Springs M.S. completes new plans for crisis management

COLUMBIA CITY — After five year of planning, Indian Springs Middle School has submitted a new crisis plan.
“We’ve always submitted a plan each year, but this is a new plan that we may only have to tweak from time to time in the future,” said Indian Springs Middle School Principal Jan Boylen.
According to Boylen, the plan was a collaborative effort on the part of many people at ISMS throughout several years.
“Assistant Principal Michelle Urban, head custodian Bill Helm and school nurse Kandy Gay did a lot of work on this,” said Boylen.
The plan outlines storm, earthquake, lockdown and fire procedures as well as an evacuation map and fire and tornado maps.
“The plan is very well done, and I applaud Indian Springs Middle School for its efforts,” said Whitley County Consolidated Schools Superintendent Dr. Pat O’Connor.
