Floyd Mettler, 91

Floyd Mettler, 91, of Longwood, Fla., passed away at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, March 18, 2012, at Longwood Health Care Center, Longwood, Fla.
Born June 26, 1920, in Whitley County, he was the son of Floyd E. and Edna P. (Leer) Mettler.
He attended the Columbia City public school system. On Aug. 22, 1937, he married Dorothy E. Corning in Columbia City.
A resident of Allen and Whitley County areas most of his lifetime, he moved to New Carlisle, Ohio in 2000.
He was a machinist and tool and die maker in New Haven, for 20 years. He was a member of The Church in Fort Wayne. He was an artist, writer and ordained minister.
Survivors include his son, Ron Mettler of Sanford, Fla.; two daughters, Vicki A. Fletcher of Eureka, S.D. and Sherryl L. Miller of Pendleton, Ore.; sister, Edna Colvin of Fort Wayne; 26 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy E. Mettler; daughter, Lilith Fletcher; grandchild, Vincent Fletcher; three great-grandchildren, Mariah Spring Bryie, Anthony Michael and Brandon Daniel Fletcher; three brothers, Elwood, Alan, and James Mettler and one sister, Priscilla Tata.
The memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 6, 2012, at the funeral home with Bill Holman officiating.
Burial will follow at Oak Grove (Compton) Cemetery, Columbia City. Memorial gifts may be given in memory of Mr. Mettler to Gideon’s International, Mobridge Camp U33071.
