Fourth quarter rally not enough for ’Cats

SOUTH WHITLEY — Un-like I.U.’s three-point buzzer-beater to beat No. 1 Kentucky Saturday, Whitko’s attempt at a final comeback against Wawasee came up short.
After trailing 59-40 just before the fourth quarter, the Wildcats rallied to out score the Warriors 16-4 in less than three minutes of play in South Whitley Saturday, hours after the Hoosiers’ win over Kentucky.
But the comeback wasn’t enough and the ’Cats lost 72-66.
“We showed signs of improvement,” Whitko Head Coach Rob Irwin said. “We have young guys that aren’t very experienced yet.”
Whitko’s comeback began less than a minute into the fourth quarter with a 3-pointer by Logan Iwrin.
