PIERCETON — A brand new sidewalk at Whitko High School was the culmination of a project coordinated by a WHS freshman, the results of which will propel the young man to elite status among his fellow Boy Scouts of America.
John Langmaid, Jr., 14, coordinated the sidewalk project as part of his quest to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout, a designation he said will belong to him soon.
“I would like to thank all the donors and I’d really appreciate the help from my fellow Boy Scouts and leaders,” said Langmaid at Monday night’s meeting of the Whitko Community School Corporation’s Board of School Trustees where the boy scout was honored for the project.
Langmaid told the board the project was the last step in his achieving the Eagle Scout rank, the most prestigious designation in the organization.
Langmaid, who was accompanied by his parents and brother, was presented a certificate by Dirk Felger, Whitko’s director of maintenance.
He is a member of Boy Scout Troop 85.
Johnson was presented a certificate from Superintendent Steve Clason.
