GARAGE SALE ORDINANCE: So far, so good

October 17, 2013

CHURUBUSCO — A new ordinance was introduced at Churubusco’s Town Council meeting Wednesday night.

After the town tried to pass a new policy on garage sales this summer, residents created a stir over the proposed permit fee and the limitations placed on the number of sales allowed during a calendar year.

Because the debate was thick, town leaders agreed to scrap the proposal and go back to the drawing board.

Wednesday’s meeting offered signs that the town may be on the right track.

In the proposed garage sale ordinance, residents would be required to register with the clerk’s office. However, there would be no permit fee for a garage sale.
