PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. — Gary Lee Butler 70, died at his residence in Port Charlotte, Fla. June 29, 2011.
He was born July 9, 1940 in Allen County to Wayne and Vada (Woodward) Butler and came to Port Charlotte from Fort Wayne 32 years ago.
He was a police officer, working for the town of Churubusco before retiring to Florida. He also worked as a body shop manager for International Harvester.
Butler was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and past member of the Kiwanis.
He is survived by his wife 32 years, Jean of Port Charlotte; his daughter, Linda Butler of Richmond, Va.; three stepchildren, Mary Jean Adkins of Columbia City, Brian Mathews of Albion, Mich. and Lora Lee Fox of Pembroke Pines, Fla.; two sisters, Pam Tilley of Louisville, Ky. and Karen Foster of Fort Wayne; six step-grandchildren and five step-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Vada Butler and his brother, Duane Butler.
