Gene Lahr, 93

COLUMBIA CITY — Helen E. “Gene” Lahr, 93, of rural Columbia City, died Friday morning, May 18, 2012, at Renaissance Village.
She was born Sept. 21, 1918, in Garrett, a daughter of John F. and Florence (Ladig) Osterman.
In 1936, she married Floyd Ervin Hall. He died in 1944.
On May 21, 1945, she married Lester E. Lahr.
He died Sept. 28, 1995.
Surviving relatives include two children, Carol Gillum and Robert Lahr, all of Churubusco; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and a brother, Martin Osterman of Fort Wayne.
In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by a son, Floyd Leon Hall and a brother, Alva Osterman.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. The burial will be in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, New Haven. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Preferred memorials are to Hope Lutheran Church Building Fund.
