Genealogy Meeting

The Genealogical Society of Whitley County will meet at 6 p.m. Aug. 19 at the Huntington Public Library. The library is located at 255 W. Park Dr., Huntington. Joan Keefer, director of the library’s Indiana Room, will give an overview of the department before an opportunity to do some research.
The library has an extensive collection of Huntington County history and genealogical records including marriage, death, cemetery and birth records, obituaries, wills, county newspapers from 1848, family histories and yearbooks. Keefer has amassed a collection which includes books covering much of northeast Indiana and states east of Indiana to the Atlantic Coast that might assist research.
The public is always welcome and there is no cost to attend meetings of the Genealogical Society.
