Gerald Cowan, 82

Gerald “Jerry” M. Cowan, 82, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2012. Born in Fort Wayne, Jerry grew up in Whitley County and worked for International Harvester and Rea Magnet Wire, retiring in 1986.
He was a member of Leo United Methodist Church, Past Commander and Life Member of American Legion Post 409, Leo, 50 year member of Leo Lodge No. 224 F.& A.M., Mizpah Shrine, Scottish Rite and charter and life member of the Mizpah Antique Power Club.
Jerry enjoyed family gatherings, carving, woodworking, fishing and euchre.
Surviving relatives include his loving wife of 62 years, Marjorie Jane (Shideler) Cowan of Leo, sons; Steven (Kathy) Cowan of Fort Wayne and Gene (Mauna) Cowan of Harlan; daughter, Linda (Richard) Wurm of Leo; eight grandchildren and seven great- grandchildren.
The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at D.O. McComb and Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 E. Dupont Rd. with Rev. David Heim officiating, calling one hour prior.
Calling will also be from 2 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with a Masonic Service at 7:30 p.m Burial will be in Leo Memorial Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Shriner’s Hospitals for Children or Leo United Methodist Church. To sign the online guest book, go to www.mccombandsons.com.
