Gertrude M. “Gertie” (Shipman) Nicolet, 102, of Fort Wayne, died Thursday, April 24, 2014.
Born Nov. 4, 1911, in Fort Wayne, a daughter of the late Harry and Ethel (Harmeyer) Shipman.
She attended North Side High School. On April 20, 1935, she married Howard G. Nicolet.
She worked at Fort Wayne Paper Box Co. from 1928 to 1943; and retired from Morrill Motors after 25 years. She was an active member of Calvary Temple for many years. In later years, she attended Tradition with Max and Dolly Eleiott. She loved the Lord and her family very much. Her favorite song was “Amazing Grace.”
Surviving relatives are children, Connie (Larry) Brown, Ken (Jeanne) Nicolet and Dennis (Denise) Nicolet; grandchildren, Laura, Larry Jr., Todd, Phil, Randy, and Justin; great-grandchildren, Claire, Austin, Danielle, Brian, and Aleasia; and brother, Jack Shipman.
She was also preceded in death by husband, Howard; six sisters; four brothers. Funeral service is 2 p.m. Tuesday at D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Ave., with calling two hours prior. Burial in Lindenwood Cemetery.
