Giving back to four-legged friends

December 18, 2013

COLUMBIA CITY — For some, Christmas involves more than receiving — giving too.

That is certainly true for Kelly Maloy of Columbia City. What started as an idea has morphed into a reality beyond her wildest dreams.

Maloy posted on Facebook recently, asking that her friends remember their animal friends and donate $1 to the Whitley County Humane Society.
Individuals could send their dollars to her, and she would make the donation just before Christmas.

Maloy said the success of her endeavor has already surpassed her expectations.

“It’s been an overwhelming experience, trust me,” she said. “It’s been awesome.”

Maloy helps people every year at Christmas, and she decided this year to help animals as well.
