Gladys E. Gamble, 82, of Columbia City, passed away at 2:32 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014, at Harbour Assisted Living of Ft. Wayne.
Born Feb. 2, 1931, in Jefferson Township, she was the daughter of Lee and Eva (Snepp) Walker.
She graduated from Washington Center High School with the Class of 1949. On Dec. 5, 1950, she married Dale J. Gamble.
She retired from Whitley Consolidated Schools as a cook with 30 years of service. She is a member of First Church of God.
Surviving relatives include her daughters, Peggy M. (Phillip) Mallane of Columbia City, Patricia A. (Mark) LeFkowicz of Arcadia and Gwyn D. Carpenter of Columbia City; son, Stanley D. (Lillian) Gamble of Fort Wayne; daughter-in-law, Patricia L. Gamble of Columbia City; sisters, Stella Shaffer of Columbia City and Grace (Richard) Scott of Waynedale; 13 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee Sr. and Eva Walker; husband, Dale Gamble; son, Steven L. Gamble; granddaughter, Julie Ann Gamble; sister, Edna Mae DePoy who passed Jan. 17, 2014; and brother, Lee Walker Jr.
Visitation will be held Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, with her funeral service starting at 11 a.m. Certified Funeral Celebrant Sharon Brockhaus will be officiating. Burial will follow at Nolt Cemetery.
