Gladys White, 86

Gladys M. White, 86, of Columbia City, died at 2:45 a.m. Saturday, July 28, 2012, at Parkview Oaks, Columbia City.
Born Aug. 10, 1925, in Huntington, she was the daughter of Lewis W. and Louella (Hodson) Marks.
When she was eight years of age, her family moved from Huntington to Roanoke. She attended Roanoke High School.
On March 25, 1944, she married Leonard White in Tampa, Fla. Following their marriage, they moved to Whitley County.
She first was employed at Fort Wayne General Electric Company and lastly as an inspector of brake assemblies in the auto parts division of Dana Corporation, retiring in 1986, after 23 years of service.
She was a member of the Columbia City Church of the Nazarene and the Ladies Missionary Group. She also served as 2012 President of the Oaks Resident’s Council.
Surviving relatives include her four sons, Alan L. (Brenda) White of Colorado Springs, Colo., David N. (Deborah) White of Warsaw, Tom D. (Sharon) White of Cromwell and Michael L. (Wanda) White of Columbia City; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and one sister, Evelyn Hawkins of Columbia City. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Leonard White, grandchildren, Nichole and Kimberly White and sisters, Bertha Bigelow and Marjorie Marks-Williams.
Visitation will be held today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from noon until the hour of service at 2 p.m. at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Dr., Columbia City. Pastor Bradley Fredrickson of Tri-Lakes Baptist Church will be officiating.
The burial will follow at South Park (Annex) Cemetery, Columbia City.
Memorial gifts may be given in Mrs. White’s memory to the donor’s choice of charity. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
