GOING GREEN: County reports on energy grant
COLUMBIA CITY — Whitley County is currently doing its part to go green. According to Whitley County Board of Commissioners Chairman Don Amber, about a year ago the county applied for and received an energy grant in the amount of $265,000.The county used the grant at the Whitley County Jail, as well as switch to more energy efficient products for the jail’s entire heating system.According to the grant administrator’s records, the project in the jail saved the county $8,520 in electricity and $18,340 in natural gas compared to the previous year. The grant was a full grant, meaning the county did not have to match the funds in order to receive it.___For a more in depth look at this story, see the April 17 issue of The Post and Mail.
