COLUMBIA CITY — Columbia City High School’s band program received recognition from the Indiana State School Music Association — the first time in the program’s history.

“This is a very big deal,” said Helen Hockemeyer, the band program’s director. “These kids have worked since the beginning of the school year to earn this.”

CCHS was named an All-Music School by ISSMA, which means students had to earn gold medals in five categories during 2012-13.

The Marching Eagles earned gold at the band’s district contest. Solo and Chamber Ensembles took gold at state ISSMA contest in both solo and small ensemble categories.
