Grace Lemon, 96

L. Grace Lemon, 96, formerly of Columbia City, died at 8:20 a.m. Tuesday, June 19, 2012, at Lutheran Life Villages in Kendallville where she had been a resident since May 2010.
She was born Jan. 18, 1916, in Whitley County, a daughter of Myron Jay and Jessie (Tinkham) Western.
Her formative years were spent in Troy Township. She graduated from Larwill High School.
On April 23, 1934, she was united in marriage to Clarence E. Lemon. They made their home in Troy Township until 1973, when they moved to Columbia City. Mr. Lemon died Aug. 20, 1994.
A homemaker, she assisted her husband in the operations of their dairy and grain farm.
Her church affiliation was with Troy Methodist Church.
Surviving relatives include two children, Mary Lou Shook of Kendallville and Robert (Sandy) Lemon of Fort Wayne; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Howard Western.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City.
The burial will be in Adams Cemetery. The visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
