Guitar concert

May 17, 2013

New York-based classical guitarist Peter Fletcher will be performing at the Peabody Public Library’s Robert E. Brittain Memorial Auditorium at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

The concert is free and open to the public.

This concert is part of a nationwide tour, right after a highly regarded appearance in New York at Weill Recital Hall of Carnegie Hall.

Major works will include the Bach Chaconne and Suite Compostelana by the Catalan composer Federico Mompou.

Fletcher will also perform music from Michael Praetorius’s Terpsichore, Jesu Joy of Mans Desiring by Bach, Villanesca by Spanish composer Enrique Granados, two pieces from Mother Goose Suite by Maurice Ravel, and Leyenda by Isaac Albéniz.

Fletcher will perform Diary of a Camino by American composer Jeremy Gill.

The final work on the program is Fletcher’s transcription of Paganini’s dazzling Caprice no. 24.
