HAMMERED AGAIN: Gas prices leap to $3.85 in county; $4 by the weekend?

February 28, 2012

COLUMBIA CITY – Numbing pain at the gasoline pump continued during the past 18 hours when many fueling spots in Whitley County increased prices from $3.69 per gallon to $3.85 and more.

Last Thursday gas prices jumped more than a quarter a gallon – and the spike continues this week.

The White House last Thursday reiterated its continuing philosophy that leadership on this issue was difficult and household economic problems were to be expected.

Recovery from the recession is at risk, note experts outside of the White House.

Meanwhile, experts were predicting $4 prices soon and $5 or more by Memorial Day.

It appears "soon" could be by the weekend in Whitley County.
