Hargus Howard, 90

Hargus Howard, 90, formerly of Silver Lake, died at 4 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2011 at the Hendry County Medical Center in Clearwater, Fla.
He was born Oct. 8, 1920 in Salyersville Ky., a son of Kendile and Mary (Allen) Howard. He married Hattie England Sept. 1, 1942.
Howard spent most of his life in the Silver Lake area, moving to Florida in 2000. He was a machinist for Gripco and a farmer.
He was a member of Gospel Hill Pentecostal Church of God in Silver Lake.
Survivors include his wife, Hattie of Lakeland, Fla.; a son, Ralph (Cindy) Howard of Warsaw; three daughters, Carolyn (Steve) Lister of Sebring, Fla., Bonnie Lou (Jim) Mettler of Brandon, Fla. and Mary Trout of Sebring, Fla.; 15 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Woodrow Howard, seven brothers and two sisters.
Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Titus Funeral Home in Warsaw with funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Gospel Hill Pentecostal Church of God in Silver Lake. Pastor Frank Whitaker will officiate. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Pierceton.
