HAVE A SEAT: Board vacancies mean opportunity for residents

October 25, 2013

COLUMBIA CITY — Whitley County residents have two opportunities to have a hand in the decisions made for the area.

Whitley County Commissioners recently announced a vacant position on the Whitley County Plan Commission and Board of Zoning Appeals board.

A second seat is open on the South Whitley Plan Commission.

Both spots require that the Whitley County Commissioners appoint an individual. However, interested parties may submit their information for consideration.

For the South Whitley board, the individual must live outside of the town limits, but within the area represented — 400 S on the north, 800 W on the west, 600 W on the east and Cleveland Road extended on the south.

For the county’s plan commission, the individual must reside in an unincorporated area of Whitley County and not in Churubusco, South Whitley or Columbia City.

In this seat, the individual will have to be affiliated with the Democratic party.
