Herbert Raymond Brooks, 77, a resident of Wolf Lake, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at his home.
He was born in North Judson on Nov. 4, 1934, a son of Raymond and Clara (Katchke) Brooks.
As a young man he served with the U. S. Army.
He was married to Patricia Maciejack. She preceded him in death in 1978.
Surviving relatives include six children, Jason Brooks of Wolf Lake, Patrick (Peggy) Brooks of Fort Wayne, Herb Brooks of Lipan, Texas, Mark (Angela) Brooks of Lindsay, Neb., James (Carla) Brooks of Hope Mills, N.C., and Lora Ezekiel of Florence, Ala.; a sister, Anna Paul of Monterey; 13 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Brooks; and by three sisters, Myrtle Maciejack, Clara Mae Fort, and Edna Moe.
Memorial services with military honors will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco, Pastor Rick Van Horn, Officiating.
Visitation will be at the funeral home Monday after 11 a. m. until the hour of the service.
