Herman P. Stuersel, 91, of Bradenton, Fla., died June 16, 2012. Born Jan. 16, 1921, in Adams, Mass., he was the son of the late William and Augusta (Zimmerman) Stuersel.
On April 18, 1942, he was united in marriage to Mary M. Marrs. He was a member of Troy Presbyterian Church. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II.
Mr. Stuersel was a Mason of Due Guard Lodge 278 F.A.M. Larwill and a lifetime member of Post 98 American Legion in Columbia City.
He retired in 1980 from Whitley County REMC after 35 years. Mr. Struesel was involved in clubhouse activities, enjoyed working in the yard, reading, playing cards and parcheesi.
Surviving relatives include his wife of 70 years, Mary; two sons, William âBillâ (Carol) Stuersel and Tom Stuersel both of Bradenton, Fla.; two daughters Becky (John) Hawley of St. Joe, Mich. and Barbara âJeanâ (Mike) Hunter of Fort Wayne; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and two sisters, Marietta Fernandez and Helen (Bill) Plag both of Pensacola, Fla.
A private memorial service will be held at Troy Presbyterian Church in August.
