Hilda V. Wood, 84, of Tekonsha, Mich. passed away Nov. 30, 2010 at Borgess Medical Center. She was born Jan. 27, 1926 in Churubusco to Harry and Florence (Campbell) Shroyer.
She lived in Tekonsha since 1973 after living in Pennsylvania and Indiana.
Hilda is survived by her children; Max (Janette) Wood, Patricia (Richard) Troxel, Russell (Sue) Wood, Linda Barnes, Sharon (Rich) Karn and David Wood; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a sister, Kay (Ted) Sutorious; a brother, Larry (Sue) Shroyer; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; a grandson, Ian David Barnes; and former husband, Richard A. Wood.
Hilda was a loving mother and grandmother who was the heart of her family. She loved to laugh, write letters and storytelling. Hilda was also a child of God who enjoyed an active church life through volunteer work. She was the pianist at the Tekonsha Church of God for many years. She also sold Avon products for over 40 years. Hilda will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Visitation will take place from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the Putnam Funeral Home in Coldwater, Mich. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Union United Church of Christ UCC in Tekonsha with Rev. Barbara Pryor officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Tekonsha.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Tekonsha Area Church of God.
