Holiday shopping can still include military

COLUMBIA CITY — Although the holiday shopping season was cut short by a late Thanksgiving, there is still time for packages to be shipped to military personnel.

The U.S. Postal Service has detailed shipping dates listed by region on its website www.usps.com.

Little tokens of appreciation, such as cards and notes of appreciation, are welcomed by those serving the country and removed from family during the holidays.

Charles Smith, a Columbia City native, is currently stationed in Afghanistan. His mother, Janelle Smith, said the packages he receives from her as well as other supporters in the community, do “so much to raise the soldiers’ spirits.”
