Homeowner chooses not to comply

April 16, 2014

COLUMBIA CITY — It’s been a cold and blustery winter, but according to Whitley County’s Chief Building Inspector Craig Wagner, that is no excuse for a house to be left in disrepair.

Thomas Ebetino owns property on County Road 400 South, and after several conversations and official written notices, he has still not complied with Wagner’s request to make the house safe.

“At the Dec. 16, 2013 meeting, the Commissioners granted Ebetino two months to weatherize the home,” Wagner said. “That has not been done.”

A gaping hole in the side of the house makes the structure unsafe for a variety of reasons. Wagner had asked Ebetino to close up the hole before the winter storm in January.
