COLUMBIA CITY â After working 28 years in the medical field, Janis Mann has been a Columbia City Police dispatcher for five years.
Mann began her career at Whitley Hospital in 1979 at the registration desk. Not long after, she became an EMS dispatcher.
âI walked into the hospital one day and someone asked me if i wanted a job,â Mann said. âI wasnât looking for one, but I decided to go for it.â
The hospital became a 28-year career for Mann, as she worked as a full-time dispatcher and medic for more than 10 years. She was an EMS driver and also drove Whitley Countyâs first rescue vehicle â Rescue 92.
