HOT READS FOR COOL NIGHTS: Reading through the winter

April 23, 2014

Sue Miller won the Java Lover’s Prize of a pound of specialty coffee, coffee mug, bowl of candy and a book bag at South Whitley’s Community Public Library. The library invited adult patrons to participate in a Hot Reads for Cold Nights reading program during the long, bitter winter.

Participants chose and read books just as they normally would, but then they logged and rated them on a scale of 1 to 5 stars. Each book earned a ticket for a chance to win a prize, and every five books was rewarded a chocolate Hershey’s kiss.

Readers can stop by the library to see the books that rated 4 or 5 stars, which all are available for checkout. The library’s book sale will be Friday and Saturday during the annual South Whitley garage sale weekend. If there are any books left after the weekend, the sale will continue April 28 through May 2.
