HOUSING AUTHORITY: City establishes changes

July 26, 2012

COLUMBIA CITY — At the Columbia City Common Council meeting Tuesday, to the Housing Authority was passed on second reading. This ordinance establishes a Housing Authority in line with the Indiana Code.
“As I talked about last time, this is changing our Housing Authority ordinance to reflect state statute changes,” said Mayor Ryan Daniel.
According to the ordinance, the Housing Authority’s public purpose is for the clearing, planning and reconstruction of areas in which unsanitary or unsafe housing conditions in the city exist.
The Housing Authority is also in charge of providing safe and sanitary dwelling accommodations for persons of low income, who lack the amount of income it would take to allow them to live in a safe and sanitary dwelling.
