Missing person found in Mud Lake

Albion (March 31, 2014) — At 3:32 p.m., Indiana Conservation Officer divers recovered the body of Douglas W. Haigwood, 43, of Kimmel, in Mud Lake. Haigwood was the person reported missing.

With recent warm temperatures, ice conditions are deteriorating rapidly on local lakes and ponds and becoming very dangerous. Conservation Officers encourage everyone to avoid the ice for any reason.

Indiana Conservation Officers are searching for a possible missing person in Chain O’ Lakes State Park in Noble county.

Conservation Officers received information form a concerned citizen that a friend had went ice fishing on 03/30/2014 at approximately 10:00 PM on Mud Lake, located in Chain O’ Lakes State Park, and had not returned.

Conservation Officers located the subjects fishing gear on the ice but were not able to locate the fisherman.

Conservation Officer divers are currently searching the area attempting to locate the fisherman.

Conservation Officers are being assisted by the Albion Police Department, Orange Township Volunteer Fire Department, Indiana State Police, and Chain O’ Lakes State Park employees.
