Iris Cox, 84

Iris Rose Cox, 84, of Columbia City, passed away Friday in Columbia City. Born Dec. 13, 1928, in Fort Wayne, she was the daughter of Paris and Hazel (Harmon) Standiford.
She moved to Whitley County in 1948 from Covington Downs in Allen County and resided in both Jefferson and Washington Townships. She graduated from Jefferson Center High School. On Jan. 16, 1949, she married Harold Eugene Cox in Waynedale. She and her husband managed and operated the Cox Family Farm until 1973. From 1973 to May 1991, she worked at Alcoils in Columbia City.
Surviving relatives include her husband of 64 years, Harold Eugene Cox of Columbia City; son, Dale E. (Renee) Cox of Albion; daughters, Rita (Ed) Thompson-Sites of North Webster, Darlene (Jeff) Clack, Myra (Ron) Bolinger and LuAnn (Jim) Davies, all of Columbia City; 12 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Francis and Ivan Standiford and an infant sister, Imogene.
Visitation will be today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Dr., Columbia City. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with burial to follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. Pastor James Clifford will officiate.
