ISMS girls track wins Garrett Invite

GARRETT — The Indian Springs Middle School boys and girls track teams recently competed in the 2012 Garrett Middle School Invitational, with the girls team bringing home the Invitational Title.

Placing for girls team were: Elise Cormany, first in the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash and second in the 400; Regan Decker, first in the 400-meter dash and second in the 200 dash; Mason VanHouten placed second in the 800-meter run and third in the 1600 run.

Closely behind VanHouten was fellow sixth-grade teammate Ashley Johnson, placing third in the 800 run and fourth in the 1600. Jayla Wigent brought home a first-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles with Elizabeth Russell close behind in sixth.

Madison Hansen placed third in the 100-meter dash and helped her team of Wigent, Decker and Russell take a second-place finish in the 400-meter relay.
The ISMS 1600 relay team of Wigent, Cormany, Decker and Morgan Bales swept the competition with a 11-second lead over the second place Maple Creek team, capturing another first-place finish.

In field events, Kristen Hearld made in impressive impact placing first in long jump and second in the high jump.

The Boys Team placed third overall.
Scoring for the boys were: Andrew McFarland, fourth in the 100-meter dash, third in the 800-meter run, and fourth in the 1600 run; Jake Matteson, fourth in the 800 run and fifth in the 1600-meter run; Brad Johnson, second in the 400-meter dash: Ashtin Jacobi-Barnes, sixth in the 100 and 200 dash; Jackson Wilcoxson, fifth in the 200-meter dash, fourth in the shot put and a first-place finish in the discus with a throw of 106-feet 8-inches.

Gage Emrick placed second in the 110-meter hurdles and third in the long jump. Trefor Gatchell placed third in the 200 hurdles and fourth in the 110-meter hurdles.

Ryan Mosher jumped an impressive 5-2 in high jump, taking first place.

The 1600-meter relay team of McFarland, Mosher, Matteson and Johnson ended the evening with an impressive first-place finish, beating the second place team by six seconds.
