March 19, 2014

COLUMBIA CITY — Caleb Landis, an eighth-grade student at Indian Springs Middle School, won a National Scholastics Silver Medal for his art work.
“This is an enormous honor,” said Mary Hilger, Landis’ art teacher at ISMS. “I am so proud of Caleb. He is a talented young man.”

Landis was honored among 50 other winners at the Fort Wayne Museum of Art Monday evening at the Formal-Funky Reception.

Scholastics announced the students who won in art and writing from the region, which includes most of Northeastern Indiana.

The region was ranked in the top five for the nation. Landis’ family will travel to New York June 6 to watch him receive his national award at Carnegie Hall.
