IT'S BETTER TO GIVE: Birthday breeds bucks for special needs organization

Sydney Pequignot, a member of the Whitley County Dazzlers, encouraged friends and family to donate to the special needs cheerleading squad instead of giving her gifts for her birthday. For many children the best part of celebrating a birthday, aside from spending the day with their friends and family, is opening the colorfully wrapped boxes and bags of special gifts meant for them.

One Whitley County resident decided for her 11th birthday she would rather give a gift that can be shared.

Sydney Pequignot is a member of the Whitley County Dazzlers, a special needs cheerleading squad.

She encouraged her friends and family to donate to the squad in lieu of purchasing a gift for her birthday.
