Jack Kneller, 88

Jack LeRoy Kneller, age 88, of Columbia City, passed away at 8:46 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 5, 2014, at his home.
Born Sept. 9, 1925, in Columbia City, he was the son of Lester D. and Demaris (Hosler) Kneller.
He was a lifetime resident of Whitley County and attended Columbia City High School.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. On Feb. 14, 1948, he married Carol “Darlene” Miller in Syracuse. He retired from State Farm Insurance Company. He was a former member of American Legion Post 98, Columbia City, and currently was a member of Post 253, North Webster.
Surviving relatives include two children, Rick A. (Mick) Kneller of Syracuse and Tamra J. Gordon of Columbia City. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Carol “Darlene” and sister, Joy Melinger.
Visitation will be held Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, Columbia City. Funeral service will follow at 4 p.m. with Certified Funeral Celebrant Sharon Brockhaus officiating.
Military rites will be provided by American Legion Post 253. Burial will be at a later date at Nolt Cemetery.
Memorials may be given in memory of Mr. Kneller’s to Whitley County Humane Society.
