James Caupp, 74

James A. Caupp, 74, a former resident of Churubusco, died at 1:05 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, 2011 at the Towne House Retirement Center in Fort Wayne.
He was born in Union City on Oct. 21, 1936, a son of Kenneth Lloyd and Ava (Frazier) Caupp.
He graduated from Churubusco High School in 1954, and as a young man served with the U. S. Army.
On Nov. 1, 1958, he married M. Fay Wilson.
Mrs. Caupp preceded him in death July 18, 1998.
The surviving relatives include his daughters, Carolyn Byrd of Churubusco and Diana Parent of Fort Wayne; two step-daughters Marsha Shappell of Holiday, Fla. and Sandy Parks of Weatherford, Texas; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two infant children, William Caupp and Becky Caupp; and by his sister Mary Jones.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday in the chapel of the Towne House Retirement Community, 2209 St. Joe Center Road, with Chaplain Douglas Vogel, officiating.
Visitation is at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco on Saturday from 2 to 6 p.m., or at the chapel one hour prior to the service Sunday.
Interment will be in the Christian Chapel Cemetery, Merriam.
