Born and raised in Indiana, he married Maralee V. Hill on June, 24, 1945.
James is the son of Constance and William H. Watson, and have preceded him in death.
James has three living sisters, Mrs. Olive Boggs, Mrs. Evelyn Moore, and Mrs. Sylvia Swoerland; and one living brother, Robert Watson. Four brothers and three sisters proceeded him in death.
James has two children, Linda Carol Blake and Daniel Riley Watson; four grandchildren, Joel Douglas Blake, Jeri Dee Blake, James W. Watson, and Robert M. Watson; and one great-grand daughter, Alivia Joy Watson.
James was drafted into the U.S. Navy, July 7, 1943, six weeks Great Lakes, six weeks Navy Pier (diesel), six weeks Little Creek Va., six weeks in Fort Pierce, Fla.
He boarded the USS Knox at New York, sailed through the Panama Canal to Hawaii.
He also hauled personnel and materials to the assault on Saipan also Tinian, to Leyte and Luson, the Phillipines.
In addition, he watched McArthur and the group wade ashore, the to Iwo Jima for his 20th birthday.
Visitation was held Wednesday, Feb. 12, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Sunwest Funeral Home. in lieu of flowers donations could be made to Hospice of the Valley.
