Jeanne M. Pfeiffer, 56, of Columbia City, passed away Sunday, June 29, 2014, in Columbia City.
She was born on Oct. 25, 1957, in Columbia City. She was the daughter of Vassie Tom, Jr. and JoAnn Marie Tom.
Jeanne spent her childhood at Tri Lakes where she first discovered nature, water, swimming and boating. Tri Lakes area is where she also began building lifelong friendships in and on Tri Lakes.
She graduated from Columbia City Joint High School with the Class of 1976.
She began working in 1983 for Financial Services and purchased the company in 1992, later renaming it The Collection Company and continued operating it until her passing.
She also was the former owner of Sunkiss Tanning, both in Columbia City.
Jeanne loved so many things during her lifetime, but most important to her was how well she cared for her elderly mother and providing for her daughter and two grandchildren.
She had a huge heart and was a very giving person. She always cherished so many adventures with dear friends, Deb Killian and Angie Owen. She was an avid painter, loved the ocean, horses and traveling through Michigan.
She is survived by her daughter, Jade (Michael) Wigent of Columbia City; former husband and close companion, Gary Pfeiffer of Columbia City; mother, JoAnn Marie Tom of Columbia City; sister, Beth Shoda of Columbia City; grandsons, Charlie and Joseph Wigent, both of Columbia City; nieces, Deanna Wilhelm, Melissa Landsaw and Karen Koester; nephews, Marc and Mat Shoda and Chad Grunstad.
She is preceded in death by her grandmother, Eva Wanda Dimmick; father, Vassie Tom; sister, Karen Tom and brother, Richard Grunstad.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at DeMoney-Grimes, A Lifestory Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City.
Funeral services will follow at 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Sharon Brockhaus, certified funeral celebrant officiating.
Burial will take place Monday at South Whitley Cemetery. Memorial donations may be given to Indiana Horses Rescue, County Road 800 S., Owensville, IN 47665.
