Joan M. Swing, 80

Joan N. Swing, 80, of South Whitley, died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2010 at Renaissance Village where she had been a resident since July 2008.

She was born March 9, 1930 in Huntington, a daughter of Russell and Pauline (Burman) Smith. She graduated from Huntington High School.

On April 24, 1949 she was united in marriage to Dick C. Swing. They made their home in Roanoke until 1952 when they moved to South Whitley.

Surviving relatives include her husband, Dick; a son, Eric (Susan) Swing of Fort Wayne; a daughter, Lani Roberts of Fairfield Glade, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Ryan Swing and Erin Swing; and a sister, Annabell Hall of Huntington.

There will be no visitation or service.

Preferred memorials are to American Diabetes Association.

Arrangements are being completed at Smith & Sons Miller Chapel, South Whitley.
