COLUMBIA CITY— A summer college intern proved to be a valuable resource for Columbia City’s Water Pollution Control Plant.
Water Pollution Control Superintendent Mike Cook said Wil Mannes, who is a student at Indiana University in Bloomington, did several jobs around the plant this summer.
“He got a little bit of everything,” Cook said. “He did work in pre-treatment, worked in the laboratory and learned how to analyze samples.”
Work was also done by the intern at lift stations and did maintenance around the plant.
Mannes also helped with a manhole problem. Heavy rains Aug. 2 wore away at dirt around a manhole near the plant, creating a safety issue.
