John M. “Big John” Clawson, 76, of Columbia City, died at 2:38 a.m. Sunday, September 5, 2010 at his home.

He was born Oct. 30, 1933 in Marion, a son of John R. and Edith M. (Chappell) Clawson. He enlisted in the United States Navy, receiving a Purple Heart during the Korean War.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Lynn.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date at Grace Lutheran Church. There will be no visitation.

Preferred memorials may be directed the final expense account at Smith & Sons Funeral Home.
