John â€śJoeâ€ť J. Shaw, 71, of Churubusco, died Nov. 16, 2013.
Born April 6, 1942, in Kannapolis, N.C., he was a son of the late Francis E. Shaw, and Bertha Mae Fairchild.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, was a member of American Legion Post #499 and retired in 2005 from Zollner. He was an avid golfer and loved to travel.
He is survived by his daughters, JoLynn Shaw, of Oak Ridge, N.C. and JillAnn Shaw Strangio, of Hopkinton, Mass.; grandsons, Tyler Brown, Trenton Bowers and Jason Strangio; brothers, Donald (Joann) Shaw, William Shaw; stepbrothers, Wayne Fairchild and Ronald Fairchild; nephew, Harold â€śJackâ€ť Fairchild Jr. and numerous nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen H. Shaw; daughter, Julie Shaw Bowers; brother, Raymond Shaw; and stepsiblings, Harold Fairchild Sr., Wanita Gerig, Robert Fairchild, Floyd Fairchild, William Fairchild and Carolyn Gilgen.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Rd., Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. Calling will also be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery, Fort Wayne, with military honors.
