Joseph Derheimer, 95

Joseph Carl Derheimer, 95, passed away Sunday, Dec. 12, 2010 at his home.
Born on Easter Sunday, April 4, 1914 in Fort Wayne, he was the son of Joseph and Flora Derheimer.
He worked at International Harvester Co. for 43 years. He worked on the team that established the VIN system for cars and trucks in the world.
He was an artist and loved painting. He volunteered and taught watercolor painting at the Senior Center and for the park board for many years.
He was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church and loved his faith in God and his family. He served as Eucharistic Minister, sacristan and was a member of the Holy Name Society. He was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council 451 and past Faithful Navigator.
Survivors include one son, Tom (Kay) Derheimer of Columbia City; a daughter, Linda Derheimer of Fort Wayne; five grandchildren, Mike (Doris) Derheimer, Kathy (Rick) Zorger, Patty (Pat) Denihan, Ann (Paul) Przybyla and Julie Martini; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 61 years, Cecelia (Meyer); daughter, Mary Jane Derheimer; three brothers; and one sister.
Mass of Christian Burial is 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Jude Catholic Church, 2130 Pemberton Drive with calling one hour prior, Fr. Thomas Shoemaker and Fr. Robert Dâ€™Souza officiating. Calling also from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at D.O. McComb and Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road with Rosary at 8:30 pm. Burial to follow service at Catholic Cemetery, 3500 Lake Avenue, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
