Josephine R. Hyndman, 82, of Columbia City, died at 7:40 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013, at Parkview Oaks where she had been a resident since October 2011.
She was born Jan. 24, 1931, in Kimmell, a daughter of Jesse Howard and Hazel L. (Musselman) Davis. Her formative years were primarily spent in Columbia City. She graduated from Columbia City High School.
On July 14, 1950, she was united in marriage to Chester R. Hyndman. They made their home in Columbia City until 1994 when they moved to their home southeast of Columbia City. Chet died March 25, 2003.
She was employed at Blue Bell, Ion Capacitor and retired from Alcoils in November 1983 with more than 10 years of service.
Surviving relatives include four children, Christine Nickolson, Philip L. (Linda) Hyndman, Wayne A. â€śYogiâ€ť (Gloria) Hyndman and Brian H. (Darcy) Hyndman, all of Columbia City; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Jackie Jamison of Illinois.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson and a sister, Shirley Ott.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. The burial will be in Adams Cemetery.
The visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
