Julia Corinne Bain, 67, of Columbia City, passed away at 2:40 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at Parkview Whitley Hospital, Columbia City. Born Jan. 23, 1944 in Fort Wayne, she was a daughter of Carl F. and Dorothy E. (Conner) Hess.
Raised in Whitley County, she was a 10-year member of Whitley County 4-H and the Jr. Mizpah Shrine organization. She graduated with the Class of 1962 from Columbia City High School. She attended Purdue University for two years and graduated from Patricia Stevens College. On Sept. 2, 1967 she married Ralph D. Bain at Hope Lutheran Church, Coesse. For six years, she worked for Sears, Indianapolis and Cedar Rapids, Iowa. For 34 years from 1971-2005, she assisted her husband at Bainâ€™s Packing and Pleasant Knoll Tree Farm, both of Howell, Mich.
Survivors include her husband, Ralph D. Bain; sisters, Carlene S. (Lynn) Weirick and Darlene Lue Shrider, all of Columbia City; two nephews and one niece.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Hope Lutheran â€śCoesseâ€ť Cemetery, Coesse.
