COLUMBIA CITY â€” Junelle A. Luther, 86, of Columbia City, died at 4:09 a.m. Monday, Oct. 17, 2011 at Millerâ€™s Merry Manor where she was admitted Thursday, Oct. 13.
She was born May 5, 1925, in Union Township, Whitley County, a daughter of William Thomas and Ione J. (Tucker) Perry.
Her formative years were spent in Union Township, with the exception of a short time in Auburn. She graduated from Coesse High School.
On June 29, 1946, she was united in marriage to Leonard E. Luther. They made their home in Washington Township, Whitley County.
Mr. Luther died May 9, 2001. Junelle moved into Columbia City in June 2001.
She retired in 1987 from Memcor in Huntington with 19 years of service.
She attended Grace Lutheran Church and was a member of Eagles Lodge #1906 Auxiliary and American Legion Post #98 Auxiliary.
Surviving relatives include two sons and two daughters, Brent Luther, Craig (Linda) Luther and Carol Lawrence, all of Columbia City and Lana (Thomas) Schipper of Fort Wayne; seven grandchildren, Heidi Lawrence, Tara Wagoner, Trent Lawrence, Jeremy Luther, Heather Wilkinson, Darci Carpenter and Kip Schipper; 12 great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Lois Preston, Phyllis Wood, Garnet Retter and Evelyn Fahl, all of Columbia City.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City.
The burial will be in South Park Annex Cemetery. The visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Preferred memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice or Eagles Lodge #1906. Condolences may be sent to www.smithandsonsfuneralhome.com.
