KILTS & HAGGIS: 26th Highland Games coming to county

June 23, 2012

COLUMBIA CITY — The 26th annual Indiana Highland Games, the event highlighting Scottish heritage and culture, is growing this year – with more exciting activities added and free admission and parking for all.
Slated for Saturday, June 30, 2012, the Indiana Highland Games will be held from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Whitley County 4-H Fairgrounds in Columbia City.
By popular demand, this year’s games will feature dog agility performances by the Huntington County 4-H. Additionally, there will be sheep herding and duck herding demonstrations. The crowd will be urged to participate.
This year’s games will also feature sanctioned athletics with one of the largest numbers of participating athletes in several years, including several world record holding participants, heritage and hospitality tent, children’s activities and a wide assortment of shopping at the Whitley County Farmers Market booths in the shady grove.
Additionally, concessions will be available and will benefit the Whitley County 4-H clubs.
The event is being held in conjunction with the 109th annual Old Settlers Days and American Legion Festival. The event is made possible with a grant from the Whitley County Community Foundation.
