COLUMBIA CITY â€” With his trial less than a week away, a man admitted his guilt to attempted murder and several other charges.
Dakota Kimbler, 18, of Rome City, had a trial scheduled for today and Wednesday.
After his final pretrial conference Sept. 23 in Whitley County Circuit Court, Kimbler pleaded guilty later that week.
In addition to attempted murder, Kimbler also pleaded guilty to attempted carjacking, possession of stolen property and possession of a handgun without a license.
As part of a plea agreement, all four counts will be sentenced concurrently, and Kimbler is to be receive no more than 30 years in the Indiana Department of Corrections.
A battery case against Kimbler will be dismissed by Whitley County Superior Court.
Kimbler is set to be sentenced Nov. 4 at 9 a.m. in Whitley County Circuit Court.
