Lady ’Cats fall to C. Noble

SOUTH WHITLEY — Whitko's girls tennis team dropped a close, 3-2, match to Central Noble Monday.

Aressa Tackwell won her No. 2 singles match to get the Lady Wildcats there first point of the night. Tackwell took a 6-3, 6-0 win.

Shortly after, Whitko's No. 1 doubles team of Laura Alfieri and Abby Marshall won 6-1, 6-1.

But the Lady Wildcats suffered losses in the other matches, giving Central Noble the 3-2 advantage.

Whitko was swept by Northfield last week.

The Lady Wildcats had some players missing Monday, forcing some line-up changes and a default win at No. 2 doubles.

Northfield took a quick 6-0, 6-1 win against the No. 1 doubles team of Erin Murphy and Candice Swick.

The singles matches were a different story, as all three fell in more competitive gameplay.

In No. 1 singles, Alfieri fall 7-6 in the first set, but won the second 6-3. Northfield No. 1 singles player, Bayli Birk, came back to win the final set and take the match.

In No. 2 singles, Whitko's Abby Marshall fell in two close sets. Lady Norseman Elaine Tewell won 6-4 in the first set, and 7-6 in the second.

Whitko's Mikayla Findley lost 6-1, 6-4 in No. 3 singles to Jensen Zumbaugh of Northfield.
