Lady ’Cats open season with win

November 13, 2013

ALBION — Whitko’s girls basketball team opened its season with a 12-point win Tuesday night at Central Noble.

The Lady ’Cats took a 66-44 victory to begin the season on the winning side.

Though Whitko Head Coach Brandon Bradley said the beginning of the game “wasn’t necessarily pretty,” falling to a 17-10 deficit at the end of the first quarter, the Lady Wildcats rallied to take a 27-26 lead at halftime.

Whitko alternated defenses in the third quarter to catch Central Noble off-guard in the third quarter, extending the lead.

Six second-half 3-point shots stretched the advantage out for good, and the Lady Wildcats opened the season with a 66-44 win.

Freshman guard Aly Reiff led Whitko with 22 points, including five 3-pointers and several rebounds.
