SOUTH WHITLEY — Whitko’s girls track team excelled in the Three Rivers Conference last season.

For 2013, the Lady Wildcats are back for more and are hoping to take the conference championship once again.

Whitko won the Three Rivers Conference two ways last year, taking first in the conference meet, 48 points ahead of second-place Southwood, and also posting a 7-0 mark in the season, league-wise.

While the Wildcats graduated three seniors from last year’s team, Coach Gary Sims was excited about the talent that remains.

“Although we are very sorry to graduate three seniors last year, with the returning and incoming talent, we are hopeful for another successful season,” he said.

Some of the returning talent includes junior Miranda Terrill, who will compete in the high jump and 1,600-meter relay. Terrill set the school high jump record as a freshman, which Sims says she hopes to improve.
